A primary concern with a chopped top welding hood is spark and light exposure from the trimmed top edge. We engineered a solution by integrating a flexible leather top that seals this gap without adding bulk or restricting movement.
The Reinforced Leather Top
The shell of the Proliner hood is constructed from a high-strength nylon reinforced with glass fiber for rigid impact protection. After the top is professionally chopped, we install a top shroud made from high-grade leather. Each leather top is skived for a seamless fit against the shell and lock-stitched to prevent the seam from unraveling. This component perfectly seals the opening against sparks and back-light from above while remaining flexible.
